Take the guess-work out of finding a trustworthy recruiter.

Why having a great travel therapy recruiter matters

You’ve probably heard some horror stories about travel therapy. Stories like travel therapists:

  • Landing in nightmare, unethical facilities

  • Getting used and abused by permanent staff therapists

  • Living in the middle of nowhere for 3 months

  • Getting cancelled a couple weeks into their contract

  • Getting scammed out of thousands of dollars for temporary housing

But the most common horror story I’ve come across is new travelers getting taken advantage of by their travel therapy recruiters.

This topic gets me fired up!

Your success in the travel therapy industry hugely depends on having a trustworthy recruiter. And you deserve to get connected with honorable recruiters from the beginning.

Some of the most common questions we get asked are “What are the best travel physical therapy companies?” and “How do I choose a travel therapy recruiter?”

The truth is, I wouldn’t stress too much about choosing the correct travel therapy agency.

There are some perks of working with specific agencies. Some agencies offer:

  • Health insurance coverage on day one of your contract (while others kick in 30 days after your start date)

  • A 401k if you stick with them for 6 months to a year

  • Mentorship programs for new grads / new travelers

  • Reimbursements for scrubs or CEUs, their own CEU program, and other perks

  • Vacations if you accumulate a certain amount of points by working with their agency (e.g. Club CoreMed)

But, after working in this industry for 5+ years now, I’ve found that

your travel therapy recruiter matters much more than the agency.

I’ve connected with tons of recruiters over the years, some good and some not-so-good (ahem, trash).

I’ve assembled a team of my favorite travel therapy recruiters who are ready to land me a travel therapy job at any point during the year. And I want to share the love!

Based on the information you submit, I will match you with the recruiter who best matches your specific needs and career goals (e.g. high-paying jobs vs new-grad friendly jobs).

What to look for in your travel therapy recruiter:

You vibe with them from the get-go

From the very first conversation you have…. Do you feel heard? Comfortable? Understood? Cared about? Do you feel like you can trust them?

When something goes unexpectedly at your contract, does your gut tell you they’d have your back? Trust your intuition on this one.

If so, you’ve got a good one.

They’re prompt & responsive

When you’re hustling to land your dream job or have a question about payroll, you want a recruiter that will get back to you quickly.

If they’re dropping the ball and taking hours upon hours or days to get back to you about important matters, it’s time to find another recruiter.

Transparent, honest communication

Transparency is everything in this relationship. You want a recruiter that won’t withhold info & will tell you exactly how it is.

Of course, you should be just as open and transparent in return. If you don’t feel comfortable asking them questions or feel like you’re getting half-truths, it’s not going to work out.

They’re knowledgeable about the travel therapy industry

If you have questions about how travel therapy works, they should be able to answer them.

How can they help you thrive in this industry if they don’t know the ins and outs themselves?

They don’t have a problem with you working with multiple recruiters

Bring this up right away when you interview a new recruiter. If they try to guilt-trip you or have negative energy about it, run the other way.

The good ones will understand you’re just setting yourself up for success.

Competitive pay packages

You’ll know if their pay rates are competitive by working with 2-3 recruiters at a time.

You can also ask a mentor (like me) to look over your pay package to see if anything looks off.

We know you’re here for more life and financial freedom!
