Meet the Van Fam

From 9-5s [2017] ↠

Unlike most of the free spirits you’ve met, we were extremely bought into the corporate ladder for the first 25 years of our lives.

Well, after graduating at the top of our grad school classes, we moved in together and worked 9-5s. Our first year living together and working was rough. Jazz worked M-F and Skip worked F-M. We barely saw each other besides evenings.

We were surviving, but nowhere close to thriving.

We felt defeated and played. We’d spent most of our younger years grinding to get these well-paying and societally respected jobs…but for what? Was this life as we knew it?

We knew something was missing. And the idea of travel excited us more than anything.

So we took a chance and dove into the travel physical therapy world.

To Travel PT [2018] ↠

So we sold most of our belongings, left our forever-home of Kansas, and moved out to California for Skip’s first travel physical therapy assignment.

Jazz transitioned to remote work for the financial firm she’d been working for.

We were hooked from the beginning. Life on the road felt like home, and it truly feels even more like home three years later.

Since then, Skip’s taken 8 travel physical therapy contracts, we’ve gotten married, went on a nine-week honeymoon, and went on more adventures than we can keep track of.

We were only originally only going to travel for 1-2 years, but that idea quickly changed.

We’ve grown so much both as partners and as individuals, and we owe most of that to our travel journey.

To #VanLife [2020]

We loved our travel lifestyle, but we were always in a rush to take Skip’s next travel PT assignment because of expensive AirBnB/hotel prices we had to pay between contracts.

We had toyed with the idea of buying an RV, truck camper, teardrop camper, and other options before.

But once Jazz discovered #vanlife, it was game over. The idea of being able to pick up and go wherever, whenever we wanted?! We were made for that kind of lifestyle!

Once COVID hit and Skip’s contract got canceled, we returned home to start building our tiny home on wheels.

Skip took the lead on the carpentry and Jazz took the lead on the electricity to complete our van build. We had zero experience prior and lemme tell ya, it was a project!

Now that we’re living full-time in our campervan, we can afford to take more time off work and spend more time adventuring, getting out of our comfort zones, and becoming the best version of ourselves.

Our Travel Journey So Far….

In summer 2018, we left our 9-5s behind, sold our belongings, hit the road and became full-time travelers.

For the last three years, Skip has taken travel physical therapy contracts across the U.S. while Jazz works remotely.

Since taking the plunge into the travel therapy world, we’ve:

  • Adventured all across the U.S

  • Met some of the coolest humans on the planet

  • Planned the wedding of our dreams

  • Taken a nine-week honeymoon abroad (yes – you read that right!)

  • Paid off Skip’s student loans just 1½ years after graduating

  • Built and paid off our first home (ahem, campervan) in just 6 months

But this nomadic lifestyle has transformed our lives in a way that’s greater than any of these achievements.

What we expected to be a job change and cool opportunity to travel ended up turning into three years of doing deep work, exploring passions, and deconstructing limiting beliefs.

We’ve gone from achievers and “perfectionists” chasing accolades to wanderers and entrepreneurs chasing joy, growth, and purpose.

Long story short – we had to get lost to find ourselves.

Now we’re on a path to becoming the best version of ourselves. And we’re obsessed with designing a life full of freedom, spontaneity and adventure.

And we want to help you do the same.

We’re here to empower you with the mindset, confidence, knowledge, and tools you need to take the leap into the travel healthcare world, #vanlife, or both.

We’re ready to push you out of your comfort zone, smash your limiting beliefs, and help you take the leap.

Now that you know our lives have been changed, are you ready to change your own life?
